The Allied Industrial Union / (A.I.U.): A corporation that ruled over humanity for over 1,300 years. Was defeated in 3604.

The Allied Industrial Union Space Command / (A.I.U.S.C. / U.S.C.): The A.I.U.S.C. Or more commonly known simply as the U.S.C. Is the A.I.U.'s military space command. The U.S.C. Is seen as an independent faction but still under the A.I.U.'s banner with separations included in a Guild division.

Androgen: Human phrase. Futanari.

Android: Fully mechanical beings created by humans. Popular for domestic and labour purposes.

Atmoformation: The more cost effective version of Terraformation. The act of giving a planet an atmosphere but leaving it's terrain untouched. Effects are temporary.

Bioroid: Living hybrid race of biological and mechanical construction. Created by humans as a weapon of war to be used against the Narubian's, but the war ended before the project was complete. Escaped human control and now act independently.

Bio-human: Living hybrid race of biological and mechanical construction. A more advanced version of the Bioroid's. More powerful and more 'human-like'. Only around a dozen or so are known to have been created.

Black Talon: Famous A.I.U. Military dreadnought. Was the host of the first Novalith prototype. Captained by General Jack Marachi during his time with the A.I.U. It was destroyed in 3601 during the first live test of the Novalith weapon.

Clone / Cloning: Cloning is a rare but possible process. Human cloning was made a possibility by Kibakichi Creeq, more commonly known as Famine, an A.I.U. Guild member who spent close to 5 decades working on the A.I.U.'s cloning project. The events were manipulated by the Malorian race and control was lost. The facility where the information about cloning was kept was destroyed and no one has rediscovered the secret to cloning since the incident and Creeq's death.

Credits: Primary universal invisible digital currency used by most human colonies around the galaxy within A.I.U. territory. Credits and bank accounts are directly linked to a person's DNA making it incredibly difficult to hack. The eyeball becomes the credit card by use of retina scanners for payment.

Cruiser: Highly common classification of small to medium sized ships. Most popular choice for private civilian use. Highly customizable in every aspect.

Cryo / Cryogenisis / Cryo Storage: The act of suspending and preserving the body during long periods of space travel. Has become less popular since the adaptation of F.T.L.

and due to the heath concerns the process can cause.

Dead Zone: Area of space that used to have the Agememnon system at it's centre. Separates Human and Narubian territory. Several artificially triggered super novas during the war created a monumental black hole that is now impassable.

Dreadnought: Largest classification of all known ships. Almost solely reserved for military use and currently can be narrowed down into M2-Carrier, M1-Destroyer, M0-Capital and MX-Fortress.

Earth: Homeworld of humankind. Most heavily protected area of the galaxy, not even the smallest of rocks can get through the thousands of automated MAC weapons littered around Earth's radius undetected.

Eden, New: New Eden is Earth's capital city built over the north Atlantic ocean. Construction began in 2516 and it quickly became the most advanced city on the planet, essentially becoming, and replacing the American cities of New York, Washington and Los Angeles.

Fallen: A large city of it's own that lies on the structural construction of New Eden above. Close to sea level and devoid of sunlight it is a poor and miserable place, it's citizens often referred to 'the rats below' by those living in Eden.

Felidaenian: Feline-like alien species. Neutral. Felidaenian's are a rare sight in A.I.U. territory and very little is known of the race other than they are almost exclusively androgen's. Conflicting opinions state that their homeworld has never been found by the A.I.U. while other say it was destroyed by the A.I.U. and all evidence of it erased from history for an unknown reason.

Fortuna: An important planet in human history. One of very few natural Earth-like planets. During early A.I.U. Rule, Fortuna was the third most populated planet after Earth & Mars. During the Narubian war, loss of control lead to it falling into a pirate warlords hands. Zexion Maw called Fortuna her home for a short time.

Freezer Burn: The fusion of foreign objects to the skin during Cryogenisis. Clothing can fuse to the body and be an extremely painful experience, sometimes needing surgical remedies.

Frigate: Medium to large classification ships. Much rarer than cruisers. Mostly military use, long range gunships and such.

F.T.L. / Faster Than Light: A term to describe the area of non-space and speed a ship travels through when using a hyperdrive engine.

Human: Advanced race that has commanded the most territory in the galaxy for over 1,000 years.

Human Off-shoot: Rare but possible cross-breeding between species has resulted in some incredible outcomes.

Hyperdrive: An engine on ships used to open passage into hyperspace for much faster travel. High amount of power required, powered by, and burns through large amounts of ipsulam.

Ipsulam: A rare metal first discovered on Europa. Widely used as a source of energy to power ships shields and hyper-drives among other things during the A.I.U. era. Sources of ipsulam are becoming increasingly harder to locate.

Izanami – Hotaru: 1961 – 3609. Original Japanese co-owner of the A.I.U. Mind was kept alive for over 1,500 years long after his body had turned to dust. Was manipulating the A.I.U. From the shadows for generations. Finally killed by Jack Marachi in 3609.

Izanami – Kari: 3570 - ????. Guild member of the A.I.U. during it's fall in 3604. Turned against them and aided in it's destruction. Founder of the Terran Civilization and it's first president. Believed to have been assassinated.

Kaiku – Setsuna: ???? - ????. Most information about her was erased. Known to be the original designer and creator of the Bioroids & Bio-humans. Believed to have died over 1,000 years ago.

Khel'rou: Incectoid alien species. Hostile. Interference in the timeline resulted in humanity never coming in contact with this race... yet. Believed to originate from the Andromeda galaxy.

Koh, Faction: The Koh Faction was the galaxies largest faction of pirates during the A.I.U. Era. They had one of the core 'Earth-like' worlds, Fortuna, under their full control for centuries.

Language: Human language has split into 2 dialects. Original pilgrims from Earth following the A.I.U. Were either of American or Japanese origin. Both dialects are a merger of these 2 ancient languages but each subtly different from each other. See nanos for more info.

Malorian: Reptilian alien species. Hostile. Believed to be related to the Heilios. Thought to be extinct.

Maw – Zexion: 3582 – 3610. Heroine of the Terran Conflict. Aided in the fall of the A.I.U.

Marachi – Jack: 3578 – ????. Former A.I.U. General. Hero of the Terran Conflict. Leader of the Sol civil war assault.

Merc / Mercenary: A common career for humans. Merc work usually involves hunting down criminals, but they will usually accept any job so long as it pays high. On many occasions, Merc's are just as bad, or worse than the criminals they hunt and can sometimes find themselves being hunted by the A.I.U. or others for their actions.

M/W. / Milky Way. The galaxy where we live and the Shattered Worlds saga takes place.

Nanos / Nano-machines: Microscopic machines used for a variety of purposes. During the early A.I.U. Era, nanos were injected freely. At birth children were injected with sets that provided immunities to various diseases. Between the ages of 6 & 8 nanos containing a full library of languages were injected, allowing the recipient to comprehend any corresponding language. And finally between the ages of 12 and 15 nanos that slowed the ageing process and extended life were given. Nanos are still heavy used today, but it's not uncommon to have to pay for them, particularly language nanos.

Narubian: Reptilian alien species. Hostile. Current status unknown. Territory behind the dead zone.

Neopolos' Memorial / The Hive: Largest and most advanced space-station created by humans in orbit around Earth. Started production as the Hive, home and place of work for the leaders of the A.I.U. Heavily damaged in the Sol civil war. Rebuilt by Nathan Neopolos as a memorial for the lives lost and became a hub of trade and leisure.

Novalith: Weapon prototype created by the A.I.U. for the purpose of destroying planets at long range. Was the cause of the Sol civil war. All data and blueprints for this weapon were destroyed when the A.I.U. fell.

Platinum: Currency. A precious and attractive Ore mined, smelted and forged by the A.I.U. in it's infancy. It did not remain in circulation for very long – serving as a bridge between ancient paper and modern credit systems. It still holds high value however though is almost exclusively controlled by pirates who choose to avoid the fully A.I.U. controlled credit system. Refined platinum is small and rectangular in a variety of colours and designs to indicate value. Yellow is the least, green is worth 10 yellow, blue is worth 50 green, purple is worth 75 blue, red is worth 100 Purple, and white is worth 500 red.

Power Cells: Power Cells are an ancient form of powering ships, used before the discovery of Ipsulam. For many years these cells were seen as obsolete and not used at all, however some ships now carry them again to power the lesser systems of ships, such as lighting, to save as much of the dwindling supply of ipsulam as possible. Cells do not hold enough energy to power hyperdrives or shields effectively.

Prauge – Ash: 3580 – 3604. Ruler of the A.I.U. during it's fall in 3604.

Prauge – Ken: 1970 – 2022. Founder of the peaceful industrial company that would be warped into the A.I.U.

Prauge – Markus: 1994 – 2070. Founder of the A.I.U.

Heilios: Reptilian alien species. Allies. Fought valiantly alongside the free humans during the Sol civil war and became close friends of the young Terran Civilization.

Skiff: Miniature ship. Usually used as an escape craft with more comforts than pods. Can carry around 10 people packed tightly.

Skrattian: Elf-like alien species. Peaceful. Thought to be extinct.

Slam: Prison. Prison's are privately run these days by slavers. Slavery is still frowned upon but no one protests the human rights of murderers and other such criminals. Bounties are offered and when brought in, men & boys are usually worked to death, women and girls... pleasure and entertainment.

Sol: Short for 'Solar System', system where Earth is.

Terraformation: The act of reconstructing a planet to become suitable to inhabit. Unlike atmoformation, terraformation includes the artificial growth of trees and plant life that help sustain an atmosphere for far longer periods of time.

Terran(s): Humans. The core ruling party of humankind renamed Earth and it's colonies the Terran Civilisation after the fall of the A.I.U.

Tokyo, Neo: Earth's second largest city, it has evolved in a similar manner to how Eden was created, but with the new built over the old. Neo Tokyo remains in the same location in Japan.

Xane: ???? - ????. Brother of Xian. Position of power in the Bio-human empire. Unknown loyalties. Unknown fate.

Xello: ???? - ????. Brother of Xian. Position of power in the Bio-human empire. Unknown loyalties. Unknown fate.

Xian: ???? - Present. Leader of the Bio-human empire. Hero of the Terran Conflict. Aided in the fall of the A.I.U.

Yaki: The Yaki Faction was a small pirate faction during the A.I.U. era. It was well known for being one of the 'kindest' and business-like factions of pirates. It was also one of the few colonies where humans had spent so much time away from the rest of humanity, they developed their own language, customs and strong accents, commonly known as 'Pirate tongue.' The Yaki faction & their main base, the Marauder, were wiped out in 3604 by the A.I.U.
